Camping du Lac in Roybon (classified as Station Verte) is also an ideal base from which to explore the wonders of the Isère region. With forest walks, cultural visits and gourmet breaks, here’s a taste of what’s in store! Off we go!

Lake Roybon: swimming, fishing and relaxing by the water
For a gentle day out, head for Lake Roybon, directly accessible from the campsite. This sublime lake surrounded by forests offers an idyllic setting, ideal for a relaxing stroll, a sunbathing session or a picnic with your feet in the grass. Fishing enthusiasts will also find something to suit them (category 1), with plenty of opportunities to catch fish in a relaxing, natural setting, as well as refreshment points for those who are a little peckish! The lake is free to use and enjoy: what more could you ask for? So put on your swimming costumes and enjoy the moment!

Kayaking or pedal-boating on the water. A charming getaway!
For our travellers who prefer not to get too wet, opt for a ‘nature-friendly’ boat (and yes, the lake is classified as a Green Resort) and hire a kayak, canoe or pedalo from the water sports centre. Escape on the waves of Lake Roybon and enjoy the panoramic views (be careful not to drop your camera…). Between greenery, mountains and forests, it’s the ideal outing that combines relaxation, family fun and nature. So, are you ready to embark?

The Chambaran forest: hiking, cycling and a breath of fresh air
If you love nature and the great outdoors, put on your walking shoes or get on your bike, because the Forêt de Chambaran is waiting to welcome you! Criss-cross the miles of signposted paths and open your eyes to the rich flora and fauna that inhabit it. It’s also the perfect playground for a peaceful hike or a mountain bike outing for our holidaymakers who enjoy more of a thrill. For the more curious, a stroll through the Chambaran Nature Reserve is a great way to spot deer, wild boar and other species that inhabit these woods. Enjoy nature with the whole family!

Le Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval: a dream come true
Twenty minutes from the campsite, discover a fascinating and original monument: the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval. This stone masterpiece, built by a postman with his own hands over a period of 33 years between 1879 and 1912 (no less…), seems to have come straight out of a fairytale. A unique place, where the imagination knows no bounds! Calling all lovers of beautiful stones and culture… You won’t be disappointed by this incredible feat!

Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye - A leap back in time (and a feast for the eyes!)
Just a quarter of an hour from the campsite, discover the heritage of Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Stroll through its cobbled streets, admire the medieval houses and the sublime abbey that sits enthroned in the heart of the village. A setting worthy of a historical film… except that it’s very real! The 13th-century abbey, with its Gothic allure, impresses with its finely chiselled sculptures and colourful stained glass windows. Stop off in the small craft shops and take a culinary break in one of the restaurants where you can discover the wonders of the Isère region (and taste the famous Chartreuse, in moderation of course). And if you’re lucky, you might even come across a knight or a lady in costume during the medieval festivals held every summer in August! If you’re interested in history, head to the Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye museum, which traces the lives of the monks and the incredible story of the relics of Saint Antoine. A visit as instructive as it is unusual!

Pont-en-Royans - The village that defies gravity!
Just 40 minutes from the campsite, welcome to Pont-en-Royans, a little gem nestling at the gateway to the Vercors and the Drôme. The main attraction here are the sometimes colourful houses suspended above the River Bourne (if you live in this area, you’ll need to be afraid of heights!). These impressive pastel buildings clinging to the cliffs look as if they’ve stepped straight out of a fantasy set… For the best view, head for the bridge that crosses the village or the banks of the Bourne. Insta-friendly guaranteed! In summer, head to the beach on the Bourne for a refreshing dip in the water. For a bit of fun, take a trip to the Musée de l’Eau, an interactive tour that’s fun for all the family. Take a stroll through the picturesque streets of the historic centre and stop off to sample the local speciality, ravioles du Royans.

The Gorges de la Bourne - A breathtaking route through the heart of the Vercors!
You will definitely be amazed: the Gorges de la Bourne are 20km of breathtaking scenery, combining impressive cliffs and a river of turquoise waters. Just under an hour’s drive away, this winding road links Pont-en-Royans to Villard-de-Lans, and offers one of the most beautiful crossings of the Vercors. An adventure to be enjoyed by car, motorbike… or even by bike for the bravest! Don’t worry about your rear-view mirrors: once you’ve rounded the many hairpin bends, the lookouts dotted along the route offer an incredible view of the Vercors scenery. You won’t want to miss the natural spectacles such as the Cascade de la Bourne and other natural caves. Keep your eyes peeled: you might spot a chamois wandering about, although their stealth is almost unquestionable…

The Vercors Regional Nature Park: a sumptuous blend of cliffs and wide open spaces
Welcome to a wild paradise where towering cliffs meet lush green valleys! The Vercors Regional Nature Park is a life-size playground for thrill-seekers and breathtaking panoramas. Hikers, walkers and cyclists will all find something to suit them. One of the must-sees is the Gorges de la Bourne, a winding road offering spectacular views of the rock faces. And for an even more magical experience, head to the Grottes de Choranche, where you’ll see needle-thin stalactites and crystal-clear water. A truly timeless journey! When it comes to wildlife, keep your eyes peeled: the Vercors is home to chamois, ibex and even golden eagles. And if you’re in the mood for something sweet, try the famous Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage, a cheese that’s well worth the taste test!

Didn’t have time to see everything? No problem, we offer you the chance to continue your journey in a different setting, one that has a distinctly Provençal feel, and where life is good, always in the heart of nature. South of the Vercors Regional Nature Park: welcome to the Drôme! We suggest you stop off and put down your bags at Le Jalinier campsite, in Buis-les-Baronnies, to recharge your batteries at the foot of the mountains. This is a campsite that will delight all lovers of nature, relaxation and a friendly atmosphere. Its spacious pitches and comfortable accommodation will be a little bonus on your journey (and free access to the nearby swimming pool!). Off you go for a 1h30 drive, heading for the Drôme!
